Sohini has been dancing since the age of three. She started off with Bharatanatyam in Pune. She was introduced to Kathak at the age of 6 under Guru Smt Nivedita Bhattacharya in Lucknow. As she moved to Bangalore, she joined Abhinava Dance Company to learn kathak under her Gurus - Smt Nirupama Rajendra and Shri TD Rajendra. In the past 15 years of her association with ADC, she has worked towards becoming a seasoned Dancer. She now is also a faculty at ADC.
Her strength lies in her swiftness and agility in taking the chakras which is one of the prominent features of Kathak. Being nimble footed and having a pleasant disposition are rare, but essential qualities of a dancer and Sohini brings these features in her presentation with much ease.
Sohini has been performing since she was 8 years old and has been part of numerous prestigious performances. She has performed across India (Hyderabad Rajkot, Udaipur, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Coimbatore, many programs at Bangalore) and in foreign countries (China and Singapore). Sohini completed her Rangapravesha in 2017.
Sohini holds a degree in Architecture and is a painter as well. Apart from the formal education in school, she has shown her steep inclination towards music and Yoga. She had formal training in Hindustani classical music under the esteemed guidance of Guru Shri Abhijit Shenoy and Pt. Venkatesh Godkindi. She is a Yoga trainer and practitioner under Sri Sri School of Yoga.
Sohini is also the co-founder of the company - Kal?tapasy? and also the co-host of the podcast - The Indian Artpreneur that focuses on the growth of artists.
