CB Ramkumar is an author, speaker, trainer, and entrepreneur, and an expert in applied sustainability. Ram is the Vice Chairman & Board Member for the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. He is also a Certified Lead Trainer for the GSTC training modules. In 2015, Ram has worked with UN Environment as a consultant to develop a policy dialogue for South Asia as part of the Switch Asia Programme of the European Union. Ram is the past President and presently an adviser of the Karnataka Tourism Forum. He was invited by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India to serve on the Planning Projects committee for Tiger conservation in the country. After spending 2 decades in the marketing world, Ram came back to India in 2006 to develop a model for sustainable living, when he founded Our Native Village, an eco-resort just outside Bangalore, in South India. Subsequently, Ram authored ‘Green Dreams’, a book on sustainability, was launched in India in 2018. The book traces his journey of a decade building a sustainable living model in Our Native Village. As a regular newspaper columnist, Ram authored over one hundred articles on climate change and sustainability. Ram has been featured extensively in the print and audio visual media over the last decade, thanks to his thought leadership in the field of sustainability. Ram is a trained ‘Climate Leader’ after undergoing a training programme by the Former Vice President of the US, Mr. Al Gore, a certified ‘Sustainable Tourism’ trainer, with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council and a certified ‘Project Management for Sustainability’ specialist with APMG International. Ram is also a qualified to ‘Unleash the 2030 agenda for the private sector’, having undergone a training with the United Nations System Staff College. Ram has been involved in events that have had a lasting impact on him and those around him. In 1995 Ram cycled across Lebanon raising money for 2 children’s charities in Beirut and Dubai. Following this, he cycled close to 4,000Kms across India from Jammu to Kanyakumari in the year 2000, raising money for the Neelbagh School, run by the Aashraya Trust Bangalore. Ram and his wife had also started the Fertility Support Group and an informal Adoption Support Group when they lived in Dubai and continue to counsel those in need of help in these areas. Ram ran the Dubai Marathon in 2005 and is currently training to run the Milton Keynes Marathon on 1 May 2023. Ram lives in Rural Bangalore on his farm with his wife Lalitha. His daughter Aakanksha is a Behavioural Scientist in Edinburg, Scotland and his son Akshay is an Environmental Economist, presently pursuing his second Masters in Sustainable Development in Glasgow.. |
