Abhishek Iyer is an Indian music vocalist and music composer from Toronto, Canada. Having grown up in a musical family in North America, Abhishek was exposed to a variety of different genres and styles of music from an early age, leading to his expansive vocal range and versatility. Being a disciple of Smt. Ranjani & Smt. Gayatri (Ranjani-Gayatri), Abhishek has trained extensively in both forms of Indian Classical Music, including Hindustani and Carnatic. Apart from his grasp on Indian Classical Music, he has significant experience performing Hindi (Bollywood), Tamil, Ghazals and Qawwali, in addition to Western music, including Rap, Jazz and Hip-Hop. Showcasing his versatility as a musician, he has given various con-certs in North America, Southeast Asia and India. Abhishek has been invited to perform at many prominent venues all over India, especially during the December Music Season in Chennai, and the United States. Abhishek has performed with numerous musicians across the globe, including classical pianist Anil Srinivasan, singer Mano, lyricist Madhan Karky, and director Gowtham Menon. Having performed vastly across major venues in India, including The Music Academy, Chennai, Kamarajar Arangam and Shanmukhananda Mumbai, Abhishek repeatedly showcases his strict classical, fusion and light music experience on stage. As a composer, he has produced numerous original tracks and background scores for local Canadian productions.
Abhishek also has various accolades and achievements to his credit, including the Best Singer at the North American Singing Talent Hunt held by Sangam Kala Group and the RTP award at the Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana for his Ragam-Tanam-Pallavi. He recently emerged as the winner of Malaysian Astro’s International Superstar – a televised worldwide reality singing competition with contestants from all over the world. He was declared the champion of the series, amongst the fifteen contestants, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Abhishek has collaborated extensively with numerous world-renowned musicians, including Bollywood musicians Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, Loy Mendonsa, (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy), Classical Pianist Anil Srinivasan. lyricst Madhan Karky, and music director C. Sathya. Abhishek is a graduate of Rotman’s undergraduate business program at Canada’s top post-secondary educational institution, the University of Toronto.
